A Wall is the basis of any house in The Sims 2. When you create an enlosed space using walls, the game recognises it as a room, and automatically applies any necessary programming. This includes the lighting effects, and a platform for an extra floor above the room (unless you have reached the floor limit).

[edit] Building walls

Walls are built in one square units on the grid, and can be built along the edge of a square or diagonally accross a square. Technically, walls take up zero space in game, but they cannot be walked through or intersected. You can build walls by selecting the wall tool from build mode and then choosing whether to build an entire room, or individual walls. In room building mode, dragging the tool diagonally will create a room with square sides. In single wall building mode, you can drag diagonally to create a diagonal wall or straight to create a straight wall. Using this method of building walls you can create complex rooms in virtually any shape you want.

[edit] Doors

Main article: Doors

Once you have a wall, you can place doors and windows in it. These objects create a gap in the wall, and place an object in it. Sims can walk through doors, and can also perform various autonomous interactions with windows. It's important to note that you do not need to make a gap in the wall to place a door there, the game creates a gap automatically. For more information, see the pages on doors and windows.

[edit] Wallpaper

Main article: Wallpaper

Wallpaper can be applied to walls to decorate your house. These do not change the functionality of a wall in any way, they simply make it look pretty. If you do not select a wall covering, the default plasterboard covering appears on the wall.
