[comment on this] Pages Created

Cowplant, you are officially AMAZING. You are adding pages badly needed. I hope you don't mind but i do edit your pages to format them but this keeps them nice and neat. I love the fact that you are putting so much work in to this site... A Plumbob might be coming your way soon...! Nathan | Talk Image:edu_languages_small.png | Email | 20:28, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

[comment on this] Simpedia Survey

Please take the Simpedia Survey at: http://freeonlinesurveys.com/rendersurvey.asp?sid=4wrk9etynt89gfj297171. This is for feedback on the site. Sam, Ed and myself will not take the survey so we can get perfect results. ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email | 19:16, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[comment on this] Founder

Don't bug Nathan about this. He can't give out the Founder title. The idea was to only give this to people the Developers know in real life, as it does actually give some new rights now. You can be a sysop if you like, I'll give you the right now (I'm not online much this week) because I can revoke it later if you don't want. --EdK (talk) (email) 11:16, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
I'd take up that offer! Sysop's are cool and you can join the team with Supuhstar and myself! ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email | 13:42, 29 July 2007 (UTC)
Also, you can assign people you feel deserve it the Patroller right, which allows basic RC priveliges so hopefully they'll take some of the load off your own shoulders. Do this using Special:Userrights... this will work its way into the documentation shortly. --EdK (talk) (email) 15:11, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[comment on this] Sysopping

Well, here's a list of stuff you can do, and how to do it. And, of course, the rules.

Block peopleSpecial:Blockip
Protect pagesThere's an option on the tab list... please don't protect your own pages!
Assign/Remove PatrollersSpecial:Userrights
I will add morelol

[comment on this] Sysop

It's spelt Sysop lol! Just to say, you can't protect your own page... unfair, but true...! ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email | 22:01, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I got the same message! LOL!

[comment on this] Your Contributions

I'm sorry, Cowplant, but, as per Simpedia rules, you can't say that an entire page was wholely your creation, as there were many edits and redos afterwards. I was also given this message, and I got around it by saying "The vast majority of of Cheat:TestingCheats" why don't you do that? User:Supuhstar/sig

  • P.S. Are you a boy or girl? the other Sysops & I were wondering.
LOL! Supuh's referring to the chat we were having on MSN over the last few days we refer to you as he/she so we'd like to know! ¡иąтнąи! | Talk | Email | 16:13, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Supuhstar, I can't see how you can possibly think it's not OK to say you wrote and article but that it is OK to say you wrote "the vast majority of it"... This basically amounts to the same thing. You may think these rules are too strict or just plain stupid - I'm going to try and explain it on the Official:Attribution page, and if you have any other queries please discuss it there. Sam | Talk Image:edu_languages_small.png | Email | 18:46, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
Saying one wrote "the vast majority of it" implies that he/she had help from others in some way. Now one can, however attribute it ALL to him/herself if, in fact, the history of the page contains only his/her username. Also, to quote you, Sam,
* Please change the "My Contributions" section on your userpage as per Official:Attribution - it's against policy to imply that you wrote an article completely, though you may say that you contributed to it, or started it.

"...one can, however attribute it ALL to him/herself if, in fact, the history of the page contains only his/her username." - This is likely to change at any time, and besides, it's against policy, as you quoted above. The quote you quoted backs up my point, so I can't really see why you quoted it - it refers you to Official:Attribution, which tells you what you can and can't do. By the way, thanks for your contributions to the career pages - I've been meaning to do them for ages but I could never be bothered... Sam | Talk Image:edu_languages_small.png | Email | 22:01, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
"Created" is acceptable. However I think "The vast majority" is too biased... it will be interpreted differently by different people and seems... volatile. --EdK (talk) (email) 22:28, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Every page on that list was made by me. The Sims 2 Pets page and the Sims Stories page I will remove, but all those other pages I am the only one who has added real text to it. D:

You're editing a wiki, not a private website, and the only editor you may be but the content is not yours anymore. As a sysop, you need to set an example, and while what you are doing may not be immoral as such, Official:Attribution clearly states that "It is completely unacceptable to state anywhere that you "wrote" an article, or specify any sections which you contributed (however you may wish to include a short section on your userpage stating your contributions, in which case it is acceptable to say that you contributed to a particular article)." So, thanks for your work, but please be sure to comply with the site policies. --EdK (talk) (email) 15:27, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
Edit - Sam, you db hacked that didn't you? I didn't say all of that.

[comment on this] New Sysop System

We've recently implemented a new system, whereby all Sysops have to present an Sysopship request, which will then be reviewed by the community and finally the developers. Since this applies to both old and new sysops, if you wish to continue your post you must submit your application within the next week. Please read Simpedia:Sysop for more information.
