[comment on this] SimPedia.org and SimPedia.net
They will redirect to here. Please feel free to do anything with them. Enjoy! Will take awhile to set up.. DNS takes up to 1 day. Please note that they are redirects not full sites, simpedia.org/forums will not work Why? i dont know I'll try.. No I am not looking for power.. Just trying to contribute :-) ~Rune Legion Networks~Baldwin
- Wow!!! Thanks! That's really generous of you... We don't use the /forums anymore, we have a forum extension for MediaWiki so it probably doesn't matter that it doesn't work. And thanks again! By the way, you should consider applying to be an administrator - perhaps after you've made a few more contributions to the wiki. Judging from your userpage and your generosity etc, I would say you have the skill and the commitment we need. Thanks again, Sam "The Boss"

[comment on this] Suggestions
Also may want to add "Sims Games" on the sims stuff sidebar, aswell as
These cheats will remove items from your game. Use at caution!
to the cheats. Add it to deleteallcharacters
- EDIT: Changing a picture will give you a SQL error, it will do it every time.
- EDIT EDIT: The domains are now active and transfers to this domain: http://www.simpedia.co.uk. Whenever simpedia.com (Doubt it will be) is available I will get it. (if I am alive and interested)
- If you propose the sidebar edits at either the forums or the sidebar talk page it can be discussed with all the sysops. I think it's a good suggestion, but obviously sidebar space is at a premium and we have to discuss interface edits with everyone. As for edits to the cheat pages etc., feel free to make them yourself. After all, it is a wiki, and everyone is allowed to edit it.
- We know about the picture isssue - EdK is working to fix that. Currently errors occur when you try to resize, replace or delete an image. The resizing is to do with ImageMagick, which I think has been disabled by our host, and the replacement/deletion may be related.
- Thanks again for the domains, it's really kind of you, and I'm sure it will give us much needed visibility and search engine ranking, as well as findability.
- Just a few wiki tips:
- You don't need to add {{alert}} or {{message}} to messages on peoples talk pages - users automatically get alerted about messages left on their talk pages, and anyway the alert would appear on the talk page as well.
- If comments aren't related to the previous ones, put them under a new heading (or click '+' next to 'edit', which does the same thing). I've stuck this one under "Suggestions", since it doesn't have much to do with the previous comment about the domains. It might have been better to put the thing about the domains from this comment up with the previous one - it's best to keep related items together.
- You can set up a signature in your preferences (check 'Raw Signature' if you want to use wiki code in it), then add it to your messages by typing ~~~~ (or ~~~ to insert it without the date). It's good to do this on talk pages - see Help:Talk Pages (but not in articles - see Official:Attribution).
- Thanks,
- Update: I have now entirely fixed the image issues. Sam "The Boss"

Template:Delete isn't intended as a transcluded template, meant for subst: only... why did you change that?--EdK (talk) (email) 16:24, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- Because it didn't work. At all. You can't subst: {{#SWITCH}}'s, and you can't subst: ~~~~'s (or <includeonly></includeonly> them). Besides, what's wrong with it being transcluded? It's good!!1!111!!1 Sam "The Boss"

- Yes, you can. It _did_ work, if you used {{subst:delete}}. --EdK (talk) (email) 16:36, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- No it _didn't_ - I tried, several times.
- Yes it did. I tried, once, because it worked first time. --EdK (talk) (email) 16:39, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[comment on this] About Download:New/preload
Can we have a separate preloader for the more experienced Downloaders? Maybe 2 buttons where the "Create page" button is now that read:
Beginning downloaders click here
---
Experienced downloaders click here
---
So that the first is the easy to use stuff and the second is purely and simply wiki code, like it used to be. Can it be done? (maybe the pages should be Download:New/preload and Download:New/preload2) —Supuhstar*
- It's a good idea, but I don't think we need to do it right now... more buttons just clutter up the screen, and anyway more experienced wiki users will work out how to use the template, and then they can make their own pages. If you want, you can put a message in Download:New/editintro (which is what appears above the edit box when you create a new download page using Download:New) saying "More experienced users can click here" or whatever. It's up to you. Sam "The Boss"

- I'm having a go at making a form that users can fill in instead of having an edit box full of wikicode like we have now - it would make the final result less cluttered and it would probably be easier to use. Still, about the html thing - I'd have to talk to Ed, but I expect we could provide you with the SecureHTML password and tell you how to use it - after all, you do contribute a lot of content and html would definitely be useful to you. And Download:New/editintro is just an ordinary Wiki page - except that whatever is on it appears when you create a new download. So just edit it like you would a normal page, no specialist knowledge reuired. Thanks, Sam "The Boss"

[comment on this] Testing
Hi
[comment on this] Category:Index
Category:Index has to be in a category to prevent it appearing on the list of uncategorized categories; therefore if you label this "categories which are not indexed" , the index is not indexed either. --EdK (talk) (email) 13:34, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
[comment on this] Sim Fannon
Hi I'm a user on this Wiki called Thomas. I had an idea of making a wiki called Sim Fannon. Sim Fannon could be a place where people make their own sims, careers and neighborhood and make stories. Please Reply! -- Thomas
- Thomas, I think you could intergrate this into here. If you get the users/people you would've done anyway to come here we can expand our site info and our downloads library. I think it's a great idea for a site but with 2 other major Sim Wiki's already I think you could just intergrate it into here if the Developers have a think about adding new sections and etc. ¡иąтнąи!

[comment on this] I've been blocked?
—Supuhstar*
Sorry I temporarily blocked you from the developement wiki until we got a chance to tell you what you were supposed to be doing (since you were doing what you weren't supposed to be doing). You're unblocked now, since we've changed the permissions so that you can only do what you're supposed to be doing (which is testing the site). Sam "The Boss"

[comment on this] What is the point exactly in continuing here if eventually they will be moved with more detail onto the new Simpedia?

- When I said the title says it all, I meant it in the sense that the title answered its own question. The point in continuing here is that eventually all the stuff you have written here will be moved, probably not with more detail, onto the new Simpedia. Sam "The Boss"

- It's not wasting time, since everything you do here will be copied to the new site... so in effect, by continuing here you are helping with the new site. 86.136.232.143 15:09, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
- Apart from anything else, when the new site is "complete" and public, and edits here will be a waste of time, we will likely disable editing. Ed, not logged in:83.104.41.175 07:44, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[comment on this] Another image problem...
Can you figure this one out?—Supuhstar*
Image:K&BIDS_Objects_60-79.png
- Not exactly... the memoey exhausted error seems to pop up in a lot of random situations. The only things I can think of are: 1) the image is too big? But I doubt it... 2) The image has the wrong file extension, e.g. you've saved it as a bmp and uploaded it as a png. But I doubt that as well. 3) The ampersand ("&") in the file name is confusing the wiki - this is the most likely, since there are known issues with ampersands, apostrophes, etc, in file names.

I don't know if you've seen it, but I made a new logo for Simpedia to match The Sims 3!

I can make it any color and any size WHATSOEVER and save it as any file for any use. Just ask! —Supuhstar*
