A University major is a major that young adult Sims can select while in college to help prepare themselves better for adult careers. Each major focuses on three certain careers (sometimes more than three if you have the Seasons expansion pack), and a Sim can get a bonus in any of those careers if he/she graduates in that major.

Majors also have one primary, most-important skill that should be at least Level 5 at the end of college, along with three other less-important skills that should be at least Level 4. The only exception is the undeclared major, which stresses on all 7 skills at once.

[edit] Declaring majors

Your Sim begins college as an undeclared major. To select a specific major, use a telephone, cell phone, or computer to contact "College... Registrar - Declare Major". If you wish, you can keep the undeclared major until the end of Sophomore year - if you haven't declared a major by then, you are automatically placed into philosophy major.

[edit] Changing majors

Once you have already selected a major, you can change it anytime before your Sim becomes a senior. After the junior year, the "Registrar - Declare Major" option disappears from the phone and computer menu, and you are stuck with that major until graduation.
