Starters
If your looking to run a business, I strongly suggest to start with a Home Business rather than anything else. These are easy to handle and you can run these whilst doing housework.
Recommended Home Businesses
I have found the following businesses easy to run and handle:
- Electronics Shop
- Furniture Shop
- Café
I will go into detail on how to run those businesses below.
Electronics & Furniture Shop
When you've rang up and set up your home business I started by selling Dining Chairs, then sofas, then beds. I also sold end tables, then coffee tables then dining tables. These sold well and needed restocking quickly. I sold these as cheap, then moved it up to average as the business became popular. Apply the same thing to the electronic shop, start by selling cheap items then move onto the expensive ones, eg. Flatscreen TV.
Café
For this you will need a good chef and a clean kitchen, select the fridge with the right Sim, or order an employee to do it, make many, then select the food. Once it is made it will go into the business owners inventory and can then be placed in the fridge cabinet. The only problem with this is that you must have the food in your inventory to be able to restock it. This means you may need to make at least twice, sometimes three times, as much as you will sell. I vary my food, I sold Mac and Cheese in one cabinet and I then bought another cabinet with the first money Perk and stocked it with Crepe Suzette. Choose whether to make single plates or group meals as you cant restock singles with group and vice versa.
Advanced
Now I will move onto buying a lot and making it into a successful business. Most people will take their first business and make it bigger but I'm going to show you other ways of making a good business.
Recommended Lot Businesses
I find that the following businesses make a lot of money if run correctly:
- Restaurant
- Bar
- Athletic Shop
- Clothes Shop
I will go into detail on how to run those businesses below.
Restaurant & Bar
Expansion Pack(s) Needed: Nightlife
This is easy to set up though for it to run you must have a chef's stove, a table, a chair and a restaurant podium, found under Misc, Misc. You select the menu up to your Chef's cooking standard. If you get a 3 skill chef to make a lvl 10 dish, it's not going to work and he may burn the kitchen down... I should know... This business is easy to handle and can make good profits.
Athletic Shop
Recommended Expansion Packs: University
Here sell the body building equipment and etc. and this makes a steady income. I find that people tend to buy them so if you sell them cheap, then move up to average as your business becomes popular. Use the same principle as the Electronics/Furniture Shops.
Clothes Shop
Recommended Expansion Packs: H&M Fashion Stuff
This is easy because you only need to buy the booths and clothes then highlight the clothes with the sale icon to sell them. I sell these at Cheap or Average because many Sims buy them. With The Sims 2 H&M Fashion Stuff you can use the new items to really give your clothes shop a boost!
