Tutorial:Looking Good
From Simpedia
For some people, looking good is a crucial factor in life and this can be carried into your Sims 2 World.

Hair
Formal
When wearing a Formal outfit, your Sim's hair should match the outfit ( being respectul and formal, not messy and casual ).
Female Sims
The general stereotype for Formal hairstyles is up, but not all of these hairstyles give Formal outfits any compliments. Anything tied back or into bunches symbolizes lazyness ( anyone can tie their hair back, it takes time to do a proper formal hairstyle ), so don't use them when wearing Formal outfits. Simply putting your hair into a bun, or even leaving it down ( but not messy ), will complement any Formal outfit.
Male Sims
When you put a Male Sim into a suit, the general idea is to make him look respectful. To achieve the respectful look, your Sim must look clean. Most Male hairstyles are respectful, except for mohawks and hair hi-lighted with green or red etc. so just the classic "spikey" hair is a good choice. Get rid of any stubble or over-the-top facial hair and you will instantly look clean and respectful.
Clothes
Formal
Formal clothing is the type worn to look respectful at occasions like weddings and dinner parties.
Female Sims
When it comes to dressing Sims in Formal dresses, the style of the dress is the most important factor. If you are attending a wedding, a long, sleeveless dress is most suitable ( it is modest and doesn't show off too much skin ). The same dress applies when attending or hosting a dinner party. When going Downtown with friends, a short, bright-coloured dress is ideal ( it is easy to move in and stands out in a crowd ). To complete the look, consult the "Formal Hair" topic above.
Male Sims
When you put your Sim into a suit, the idea is to make him look respectful and clean. All suits look respectable, but not all look clean. Clean colours like silver and white or the 'classic' black will make a clean statement, but colours like dirty brown or murky green draw away from the clean look. Bright coloured suits ( pink ), are not suitable at a wedding or dinner party, as they draw too much attention towards your Sim when the event may not be about him.
