The time, friends, and money indicators in The Sims

Time can be controlled in 4 stages: Pause, Normal Speed, Fast Speed, and Ultra Speed. It is only displayed in 12-hour format (AM/PM). Time has little affect on Sims, as they can neither age nor die of old age. The time of day controls the following factors in The Sims:

  • Lighting (Day, Night)
  • When Sims go to work
  • When Kids go to school

As in TS1, time can be controlled in 4 stages and is only displayed in the 12-hour format. However, time in TS2 plays a much bigger role than it did in TS1. This is because the time of day controls many more factors:

  • Lighting (Day (starts at 7 AM), Night (starts at 7PM))
  • Postion of the Sun and/or Moons in the sky
  • When Sims go to work
  • When Kids go to school
  • When Sims age
  • When Teens can sneak out (after 10 PM)
  • When Neighbors go to sleep (If you call them between 10 PM and 7 AM, they can get angry)

The time of day controls the following factors in The Sims 3:

  • When Sims go to work
  • When Kids go to school
  • When Sims age
