[edit] Sims
The Create-A-Sim system has been completely re-written for The Sims 3. It will be possible to create almost anybody you know now with added sliders to adjust weight so you can go from 22 stone to size 0 in a matter of seconds! It will also be possible to adjust how much muscle your Sim has. You can make your Sim a weedy nerd or a beefed up strong-man.
There will be 6 needs in The Sims 3. The needs are now Hunger, Social, Bladder, Hygiene, Energy and Fun. Sims also now have traits. The number of traits your Sim can have depends on their age. A toddler can have 2 traits, a child can have 3, a teenager, 4, and young adults, adults and elders can all have 5. There are roughly 60 traits. Examples are Evil, Patient and Dreamer. Traits will affect how a Sim behaves towards other Sims and traits will also affect a Sim's mood, i.e. an Evil Sim may slap another Sim for fun.
Aspiration points have now been re-named as Lifetime Happiness points and contribute to Lifetime Rewards. Lifetime Rewards will be things like being able to have a Steel Bladder or being a Haggler. More Lifetime Rewards will be included in the final version of the game.
There will also be no "moodbar", Sims will now gain Moodlets. If a Sim gets married he will gain a moodlet (or more likely, more than one). Moodlets will affect a Sims overall mood specifically and will also give abilities like learning skills or making friends more easily. If you get fired, it will leave a long lasting moodlet, whilst your Sim gaining a skill level will only produce a short, sharp moodlet.
