In The Sims, there are 10 textures for everything, using 2 at a time:

one for the head
- 4 variations on the head
  - 2 variations for adult male and female
  - 2 variations for child male and female
one for the body
- 6 variations on the body
  - 2 variations for child and adult
  - 2 variations for fat and fit (adult only)
  - 2 variations for male and female

The body is 384x384* pixels, while the head is 256x256*.

In The Sims 2, however, there are 41 textures for the base skin, using 3 at a time:

one for the hair
- 9 variations on the hair
  - 2 variations for male and female (except for baby, toddler, and child)
  - 7 variations for baby, toddler, child, teen, adult, and elder
  - 2 variations for male and female (except for baby, toddler, and child)
one for the head
- 9 variations on the head
  - 2 variations for male and female (except for baby, toddler, and child)
  - 7 variations for baby, toddler, child, teen, adult, and elder
  - 2 variations for male and female (except for baby, toddler, and child)
one for the body
- 21 variations on the body
  - 3 variations for teen, adult, and elder "cut" (fit), "normal" (skinny), and "soft" (fat)
  - 7 variations for baby, toddler, child, teen, adult, and elder
  - 2 variations for male and female (except for baby, toddler, and child)

The body is 1024x1024 pixels, the head is 512x512 pixels, and the hair is 512x512 pixels.
