A Sim is a character in The Sims, which will interact with objects, people and places (in addition to pets in unleashed). Much like real people, they need to eat, sleep, wash, as well as keeping in touch with their social life, and making friends. They have relationships with everyone they meet, and the 'daily relationship' bar (which can easily reach 100% in a few minutes) influences the 'lifetime relationship' bar - which gives your Sim friends and lovers if kept high enough.
