In Brief: A review for The Sims 2 Pets on DS

Contents

Introduction

The Sims 2 DS wasn’t the most popular TS2 title, many people thought this game would be the same. But with a fresh idea and some new features, can this game do any better?

Creating

Create a Sim

Many The Sims 2 players have seen the excellent C-A-S (Create a Sim) in the PC oir PS2 versions. Although the DS’s C-A-S isn’t as in depth as the others, it allows you to create a unique Sim for you to control. There are a few problems that could have been worked on, including the way the hair was created, you literally get 4 styles to slide and edit, not giving you much freedom at all. But of course TS2 Pets isn’t about making sims!

Create a Pet

The Same goes for C-A-P (Create a pet) there is a bigger variety of ‘pets’ in C-A-P but still not many options and not much freedom as the other versions if TS2 Pets.

You're Own Pet!

Having a pet running around your house sounds great doesn’t it, but there’s a problem, you must keep it in a special ‘kennel’ meaning you never see it outside, even going to the park! The only time you get to see it, is when you are grooming it or adding accessories. When I’ve played the game I’ve found that I just move it into my inventory to make room for the other pets the kennel is needed for.

The Overall Story

The basic idea of TS2 Pets DS is that you are a vet, you heal and treat pets to raise your fame, and earn some money, you can expand your house and buy new machine and equipment to treat other injuries and earn more money. You might even get a visit from Hilary Duff and her pet Lola. You live your life as normal until a patient arrives, you talk to them and learn about there pet. You take them to the examination table, to, well examine it. Check for fleas, flu, broken bones, swallowed objects and many more illnesses that you may find along the way. At this point you begin to see why some reviews are calling it EA’s ‘Nintendogs’ you have to fuss it and groom it as you do in ‘Nintendogs’ once examined you choose how long you keep it and send it to the special kennel I mentioned earlier. You then treat your pet on the many of the objects include X-ray machines, bath tubs, grooming tables, extractors and more. When fully treated you wait for the owner and he will reward you with the fee and your fame will increase.

The Verdict

You enjoy treating your pets the first few times, but treating the same illnesses the same way gets boring and you lose interest very soon into the game.
The constant customers throughout the day gets annoying and your get hardly any time with your sim!
You have to constantly buy ingredients and medicine and have to wait for a while before you can buy objects
The Classic Sim Game play is still vaguely there!

Conclusion

Okay, so it’s still not the best Sims title out there, it’s ‘lifespan’ is very short and you get bored quite quickly.
