The Cowplant is a career reward object obtained in University for the Science Career. "Scientifically" named Laganaphyllis Simnovorii, the Cowplant's one goal in life is, like many things, to live. However, it does this in a rather odd way.
[edit] How to get eaten
When it gets hungry, it will hold out its tongue, which extraordinarilly resembles a cake, and use it to lure sims in. Once it has their attention, it toys with them as they try to grab the "cake". It then retracts its tongue and inspects the sim by means of its nose. Is the sim has low hygene, it will push them away. If, however, the sim is clean, it will eat him or her alive in one fell swoop. Shortly after, the utter on its chin will quite literally fill with the milk of life. A sim who milks and subsequently drinks this milk will have days subtracted off his or her life meter.
[edit] How to not get eaten
If, however, you do not want a sim to be eaten, you have one other option. When the Cowplant has its tongue out, you may feed it a ham and that will satisfy it. As with many trade-offs, there is a downside: this will not make the utter on its chin will fill with the milk of life, as the ham is not alive. A sim cannot feed it anything but ham and sims.
